"Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it."

Helen Keller

Maybe you know a thing or two about suffering.  You recognize it in yourself, or perhaps in someone you love.  If you're ready to experience what's on the other side of suffering, let's work together.

ABOUT

SPECIALTIES

Therapist and Client seated facing each other

Individual

There is power in speaking about your thoughts and feelings. Talking can be a good way to get to know each other, but it's not the only way.  I also love to use metaphor, play, art, and drama.  The backdrop to this could be in my office conveniently located in downtown Asheville, but other sites are available too.  Read on to learn more!

Outdoors

As an optional offering, let's take our work outside!  Combine the benefits of traditional counseling with the therapeutic benefits of nature.  A few select, public spaces make this work accessible to all fitness levels.  Our focus is on establishing a relationship with nature, not pushing your body past its limits.

As yet another optional offering, let's bring our work outside of the therapy office and into your life!  If your therapy goals include creating systems and routines to support your mental health, let's focus our work in spaces where you spend most of your time.

Neurodiverse

Our bodies come in all varieties, all different shapes and sizes.  Our brains do too!  Let's move beyond the idea that there is only one way to be and to think! Let's go beyond deficit thinking and skill training.  It's essential to cherish ourselves as a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, or maybe we'll want to connect to larger communities of people similar to us.  The future is ours!  Bryan specializes in supporting autistic folx, ADHDers, and dyslexic clients.

LGBTQI+

We'll use a queer liberationist lens to examine gender, sexuality, family, work, and other matters of identity.  With your permission, I will also help advocate for you at work, at home, and within educational settings.

Secular Buddhism

You do not have to identify as a Buddhist to engage in practices like mindfulness, discussions on ethics expressed through consciously chosen values, or the cultivation of loving-kindness.  Nothing spiritual or material, or any middle of the way approach, should be taboo in therapy.
